Gender Equality Essay Sample

Gender Equality Essay Sample What is one of the most debatable questions during a couple of centuries? Gender equality. In general, it is a belief that women and men should have the same rights and obligations, if not to take into consideration some necessary differences. Nowadays, in most of the countries, females and males have almost identical rights and obligations. However, the stereotypes that exist in the society still have an impact on the people. Not only women but also men have problems with gender equality, which means that it can be solved only together. From the ancient times, those, who had fewer rights were women. It was believed that women could only be mothers, wives, housewives, hostesses, and pretty things. As a result, they almost had no rights. There were times when it was forbidden for women to study. They couldn’t read anything except the prayers. Later the situation became a little bit better, but they still couldn’t get any job except a maid or governess. All other professions were not allowed. Nowadays, the situation is quite different. In general, there are any laws about what profession women can have. It is possible to become a politician, a driver, a teacher, a scientist, and even a soldier. However, the stereotypes still exist in the society. A lot of people believe that women and men should know their places. This creates different conflicts and doesn’t let people understand that both sexes can exist peacefully and help each other. However, women aren’t the only ones, who suffer from the gender inequality. There are a lot of the situation where people think that men can’t do handle something because women do this better. For instance, there are more chances that after divorce the baby will be left with a mother, than with a dad, even if in general, they have the same opportunities and desire to raise their child. It doesn’t mean that all males are worse in raising children than females. It only means that most of the people believe this. The situation with the jobs is the same. People think that not all of the professions are good for men. Those who don’t notice anything except the stereotypes think that such jobs as a babysitter, cleaner, designer, model, and many others, are quite humiliating for them. Yet, thanks to the new vision of life, some of them became very popular among men. It is unfair that people all over the world should suffer from a gender inequality and don’t have a chance to become those, who they want. Probably, it is impossible to get rid of them once and for all because the stereotypes live almost forever. However, there is a method that can change the situation with the gender equality for better. We may not notice this, but inequality starts from the early childhood. Why is it so necessary to buy blue clothes for boys and pink for girls? What is worse, the companies that produce these clothes don’t give a chance to choose something else. As a result, people aren’t able to get rid of the stereotypes. They are taught to think in a certain way and they teach their children the same things. This is the reason, why it is so important to raise children right. If to teach them from the early childhood that all people, whether they are men or women, are equal, there are high chances that the society will accept this point of view with time. Gender quality is a problem that exists in this world and it bothers a lot of people. Men and women should have equal rights and obligations, otherwise, different conflicts will continue to appear. It is essential to understand that men are people and women are people too, which means that they deserve to have equal rights. Maybe, new generations will be able to create the world without inequality.
